Economie & Financiën
A shift from economic growth to a multidimensional well-being economy. In this lecture, Patrick Verhulst will explain the economic development of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area on an international business level. In what way has the international business climate developed? Through examples of success stories from the last decade, you will gain understanding of the strong competitive advantages of our international physical and digital connectivity within the Western European market, which has been highly beneficial for our economic growth. But do these successes contribute to the future economy we envision? Do they enhance our well-being?These questions are not new, but the call to change our goals and change the system has never before been so great. So we have to act now. But which path should we follow to secure a future-proof well-being economy? And how to cope with the change of our existing system, in which we have GDP growth as our main goal? A system that we have been building for decades. We cannot answer all these questions yet, but one thing is for certain, the transition has been set in motion.Partrick Verhulst is Director Airport City - amsterdam inbusiness & Senior Strategic Advisor Investments & Business Climate - Municipality Haarlemmermeer.
