Dutch innovation: young entrepreneurship in India

European youth have never been as open to the idea of entrepreneurship as they are today. Euro Flash barometer data (2011) indicates that the youth latent entrepreneurship rate is very high in Europe- 40% of European Youth would like to be entrepreneurs. This is possibly due to the economic downturn and the accompanying loss of jobs. However it is also due to the rise of the globally-minded 'garage' entrepreneurs, who supported and enabled by technology, are embracing entrepreneurship with more ease and assurance than the previous generations.

The growth economy of the Asian giant India combined with the huge demand for goods and services is an interesting market for young Dutch innovators and some intrepid young entrepreneurs have already made their mark. These entrepreneurs will face the typical challenges of growing their business, surviving setbacks and making the shift from self-employment to employment, within the added complexity of working in a large and complex country like India.
