At the beginning of summer, let us enjoy classical and romantic solo piano music interpreted by an outstanding young pianist. At the same time, we have a surprise for you. This surprise is all about next year's theme event: 'the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam'. Welcome!

A musician with an international background, Richard Chang is a pianist-composer rooted in classical music and brings out his own voice by interpreting, performing, and composing. As a pianist, Chang has garnered recognition by winning competitions including the MTNA competition in the US, Christian Carpenter Recital Prize in the UK, Young Pianist Foundation competition and Princess Christina Concours in the Netherlands. At the last edition of the Golden Key composition competition, Chang received the 1st prize, with his composition Erzichengzhou (Farewell by the Riverside) for piano solo. He has performed solo recitals and chamber music in Italy, France, Netherlands, US and UK. He was born in the Netherlands, grew up in China, where he started his piano education. To further his development in music, he moved back to the Netherlands and started his study in the Conservatory of Amsterdam at the age of 16. During 2016-2018, Richard won the scholarship of Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds and Fundatie van Renswoude to study in the Royal Academy of Music in London. He completed his Master's degree with a special honour DipRAM. In 2023, Richard completed his doctoral degree in piano performance (DMA) at the University of Utah.
